About English Mum
I’m a 39 year old layabout and arch procrastinator with a penchant for cooking, shopping, hot baths, Green & Black’s and a nice glass of red (not necessarily in that order). I used to work from home testing and developing recipes for a food magazine, but now I mainly loll around moaning and drinking wine. I can be lured anywhere with something pink and sparkly or anything that smells nice. We originally moved to Ireland from the UK in 2006 and moved to English Towers in the wondrous county of Cavan in August 2007. In December 2009, we moved back to the bright lights of Hertfordshire, sad to be leaving our Irish friends, but happy to be reunited with our family and friends over here.
Something not commonly know about English Mum:
In 2009 I visited Walt Disney World in Florida with a group of parent bloggers courtesy of Disney for a week's whirlwind tour of Disney's resorts, hotels and restaurants. We had a blast!
English Mum in the press:
Englishmum.com was a finalist in the 2008 Irish Blog Awards and nominated in the 2009 Irish Blog Awards and is currently #3 in the ‘Tots 100′ UK Top 100 Parenting Blogs. The Irish Times Food File said 'Family-friendly recipes, funny stories... are the reasons to read this entertaining blog written by a mother-of-two, now living in “English Towers” in Co Cavan. A recent recipe for easy tandoori chicken with cheaty flatbreads is so simple and delicious that once you’ve cooked it, you’ll be tempted to throw away those takeaway menus'. I have a special interest in child-friendly, local, seasonal food and have guest written for everyone from cheapeats.ie to the websites of Irish wine dealer Curious Wines and the Irish Food Board, bordbia.ie. I also write for the travel-with-kids website havealovelytime.com and worked for Easy Food Magazine in Ireland developing and testing recipes, as well as contributing to the Easy Food Cookbook (ISBN978-0-9551274-1-1). My food photos have been used by such websites as the examiner.com and online.

About englishmum.com
Englishmum.com is all about food and family. There are tons of recipes, loads of laughs, and bags of fresh, local, seasonal food. The site was launched in July 06
History of the blog
Englishmum.com started as a 'virtual letter home' when we first moved to Ireland nearly four years ago, but became more popular as I started to post my family's favourite recipes. In 2009 I visited Walt Disney World in Florida with a group of parent bloggers, as covered by The Times. I still work in partnership with Disney as a Blu-ray Ambassador, reviewing their Blu-ray titles, as well as reviewing other food and parenting-related items.
Future plans for the blog
There's loads of exciting stuff coming up this year, with product reviews, loads of travel, visits to local producers, more local, seasonal recipes and tons more silly messing about as well, no doubt.
