About Gaia Fishler
While I have degrees in business and math education, I live and breathe blogging. I've been involved with social media in various roles since before the term was coined. Writing about beauty, perfume and fashion since 2006, and loving every minute of it.
Something not commonly know about Gaia Fishler:
I'm 40, married and child-free. I have 11 cats (not a typo) love reading, antiquing, old movies and NYC. I'm also a vegetarian and a sci-fi geek.

About The Non-Blonde
I review luxury makeup and skincare lines and also write 4-5 perfume reviews per week, something no other blogger (including on perfume-focused sites) does. I have a very personal point of view which makes my readers extremely loyal. Because of the perfume reviews, I probably have more male readers than the average beauty blogger, including a surprising number of straight guys.
Since I blog mostly about expensive stuff, my audience is those who either can afford these items or those who hope to be able to afford them. Most of my readers are in their thirties and beyond, smart and funny in their own right and appreciate the good things in life. The site was launched in April 2006
History of the blog
I began reading beauty blogs in late 2005. They were a lot of fun but somehow it felt like most bloggers were either very young, very blonde or had a more limited budget and/or shopping opportunities than me. So I started writing the blog I wanted to read: testing the best stuff on the market and focusing on color range that suited me. It was also important for me to show you can talk about lipstick, gossip and hemlines in an intelligent way. Beauty is not just for the mean girls and blonde cheerleaders. Smart and sophisticated ladies are a lot more fun.
Future plans for the blog
Food is part of living well. I started a once a week column written by my husband that focuses on vegetarian food. The amount of positive feedback has managed to surprise both of us, so this kind of content will probably grow. Other additional content in the works includes tips from my mother, a 60-something drop-dead-gorgeous woman for the older crowd.
