About Dawn Short
I’ve been involved in the beauty industry since I left high school. In my early years I was involved in cosmetics and fragrances; I’ve been a photographic and catwalk model and now I’m a personal shopper, image and style consultant and personal colour analyst.
When it comes to slathering on creams, slapping on make-up or sandwiching myself into garments there isn’t much I haven’t tried in the name of beauty! Every beauty and style tip, and every piece of research and suggestion in my blog - Nineteen Days to Gorgeous is shared from my own experience. I haven’t held anything back - I’ve included my magic diet to kick-start weight loss! As the reader progresses through the days you’ll look and feel younger and slimmer.
Nineteen Days to Gorgeous is about appearing youthful without feeling uncomfortable. And it’s all about you! I’ve written this expressly for you, not for your friends or your family. It is designed to cut through the jargon of what’s new and what’s hot, the seasons’ must-haves and all the confusion the fashion media presents us with.
I blog part time. I am Australian and I live with my husband on the Costa del Sol in southern Spain.
Something not commonly know about Dawn Short:
I have a deep belief that every woman has the fundamental right to look and feel good about herself. Many women in their summer years (no one wants to be in their autumn years!)have lost their confidence and self esteem. I seem to have the gift of restoring these. And I love doing so!
Dawn Short in the press:
Several years ago I co-wrote five craft books that were published by Express Publications in Sydney, Australia.

About Nineteen Days To Gorgeous
Nineteen Days to Gorgeous focuses specifically on the mature woman. It is written in an easy to understand, friendly, down-to-earth style with a myriad of hints, tips and practical, do-able advice on how to look younger and slimmer without undergoing surgery. Each of the nineteen days (or chapters) covers an issue that concerns the woman in her summer years - the usual hair and makeup, plus sections on what jeans to wear, the effects the colour of our clothes has on our self esteem, body shapes and styles that suit, health, fitness, coping with menopause,a chapter on secret women's business, etc. The site was launched in July, 2010
History of the blog
There is a gaping hole in the market where women over 42 years are concerned. Many feel they have been forgotten, that they are invisible and past their use-by date. My blog addresses this and reassures the reader she hasn't turned into her mother. It builds her confidence that her role in society is still valuable.
Future plans for the blog
My son called me "a techno bimbo" (I took the bimbo bit as a compliment!) because I don't have photographs on my blog. My plans are to learn to illustrate it with photographic examples - at some stage!
