About Judith
I'm a young, fun and opinionated chick, especially when it comes to my food. And living in Astoria, NY--the breeding ground for eclectic food--it's a good way to be. With so many different cuisines to choose from--Greek, Mexican, Spanish, Moroccan, Eastern European--one cannot even know where to start--the deliousness surrounds us! I invite you to join my blog of eating adventures and tips to Astorian fare. For you Astorians, I hope that it helps you appreciate our little gem of a neighborhood more. And for you Manhattanites, I dare you to explore it!
Something not commonly know about Judith:
I hail from Slovakia (the former Czechoslovakia) and whenever I tell someone, I have to explain it. They ask me, "where is that?" "what kind of food do they eat?" And I go on forever about the amazing dumplings, pork and cabbage dishes we produce. I have a hunger for life, love to learn different languages and absolutely crave to be exposed to different ethnic foods that let me soak in their culture. Mmmmmm!

About The Foodista
The Foodista's mission is to infuse the Astoria community with local culinary intelligence through compelling restaurant reviews, helpful food updates, recipes and travel adventures—all through the eyes of a local expert. I focus on the uniqueness of Astoria and Long Island city - whether through detailed reviews, restaurant updates/menus and my own personal recipes. I give you helpful tips about dining, and about getting good deals to boot. The site was launched in 10/13/07
History of the blog
The blog was launched over two years ago to satisfy the Astorian ethnic food niche. There weren't many food blogs in the area with thorough and honest food reviews and given that I have a passion for all food (especially ethnic food), I wanted to dive in.
Future plans for the blog
I plan to expand into doing tours and small events that focus on exploring ethnic food in Astoria and Long Island City.
