About Nancy D. Brown

Nancy Brown is a lover of all things travel-related. She has combined her passion for travel with her professional writing career. After graduating from Journalism school and working in public relations she has backpacked through Europe; sailed over Alcatraz in a Zeppelin, rode horseback through Contra Costa County, hot air ballooned in wine country, floated under the Golden Gate Bridge on a SuperLiner cruise ship and fly fished in Alaska. She has traveled via Amtrak train, lodge hopped in Alaskan float planes, helicoptered in Hawaii, motorcycled in Greece and boarded the wrong bus while visiting Germany's Neuschwanstein Castle. Nancy writes a travel column, “What a Trip” for the Contra Costa Times Lamorinda Sun, a publication of Media News Group. She is the Lodging Editor for Uptake.com. She writes an on-line travel column for Diablo magazine and the "Traveler Making a Difference" column for Escapes magazine. Horse lovers will find her on the Writing Horseback blog. She is a BootsnAll Insider for California and has contributed to InsideBayArea, Uptake.com and Write to Travel blogs. She is a member of Bay Area Travel Writers (BATW), BlogHer, Matador and Travelwriters.com. She also owns a public relations consulting business.

About What a Trip

As the Lodging Editor for Uptake.com I review two properties a week, usually from first-person experience. I travel the world and give my readers insider tips on places to go and things to see and do when traveling from Northern California and beyond. The site was launched in November 2007

History of the blog
The What a Trip blog was a way for me to continue to build on travel stories via my "What a Trip" Contra Costa Times newspaper column.
