About Laurel
I am a Canadian gal working as a freelance travel blogger/writer. Ilove traveling, hiking, diving – pretty much exploring our planet anyway I can. After meeting a very nice German boy, on a shark diving trip in Costa Rica, who I married, I moved to Germany, where I am now living and writing about my European adventures. Prior to moving to Germany, I’ve also lived in Thailand, S. Korea and the U.S.A.
Something not commonly know about Laurel:
It took me a long time to figure out what I wanted to be when I grew up. I hold degrees in business, primatology (the study of monkeys) and a master's degree in education. The only thing that was consistent through it all was my love of travel, making a "travel writer" the obvious career choice for me.

About Expat in Germany
Expat in Germany is passionate about exploring Europe's most interesting hiking trails, dive spots, festivals, off-beat locations and local cuisine. Stories are told from a personal perspective but with details that will help visitors plan their trip. The site was launched in January 2011
History of the blog
Expat in Germany was launched in July 2010, but changed platforms in January 2011. I found many expat blogs just focused on personal experiences, but did not provide tips so that their readers could plan their own travel experience.
Future plans for the blog
Expat in Germany is in a continual growth mode. I set monthly and yearly targets to ensure its growth, along with strategies to help it reach those targets. Among these strategies are writing for additional online publications and continuing to grow my social media networks.
