Where does the name Konector come from:
The name Konector is inspired by the Tipping Point, written by Malcolm Gladwell. The book describes how some ideas, products and messages have become global trends. The rise and popularity of Hush Puppies is one example used in the book. More recent examples would be Crocs, Twitter and Facebook.
Gladwell describes how this success largely depends on a relatively small percentage of people with three different types of personalities - Mavens, Salesmen and Connectors.
Connectors are people who have large social networks, often spanning different worlds. They make friends and acquaintances easily. They are self confident, sociable, curious and energetic. They are the type of people who know everyone, they link us up with the world and bring that world together... and they are a critical component to the spread of ideas.
Ashton Kutcher is an extreme example of a connector, with millions followers on Twitter. A single tweet from Ashton Kutcher made Susan Boyle a household name globally.
Mavens also play a very important part in the creation of trends. They are trusted experts in their fields, with a passion to share their knowledge with others. Mavens are often the first to pick up on new ideas and they use their knowledge, social skills and ability to communicate effectively to start trends.
